What are Stapelsteine?

One of the most frequently asked questions in my children's store: What can you actually do with10 Game Ideas for Stapelsteine Stapelsteine? And to be honest, this question needs a bit more clarification. BECAUSE: Stapelsteine are designed to stimulate the creativity of children and adults alike. They don't want to dictate anything, don't want to give precise instructions, and thus invite children to play, move, and find intelligent solutions. This way, Stapelsteine can also be cleverly integrated into everyday life, for example, by serving as a step stool for small children at the sink. Whether alone, in pairs, or in a larger group – with Stapelsteine, you can always experience new and exciting adventures!

What age are Stapelsteine suitable for? And how many Stapelsteine do you really need?

Recommended from 1 year of age, they bring a lot of joy to both young and old. In my children's store in 52249 Eschweiler, Stapelsteine are often bought for a child's 1st or 2nd birthday. At this age, fewer stones are needed, so children can already do a lot with one stone or the 3-piece set. In my experience, the larger sets become interesting mainly from the age of 3. However, there's no upper limit here. From my customers with older children, I know that Stapelsteine are still played with or used daily even at 8-10 years old.

Here you can find all available Stapelsteine in our online shop.

The stones themselves, made in Germany, weigh only 180g but can withstand up to 180kg. This also makes Stapelsteine interesting for adults: whether as a movable stool at a desk or for pelvic floor exercises with the Balance Board.

10 Play Ideas for Stapelsteine

Spielideen fuer Stapelsteine

Still no idea what your child can do with the functional Stapelsteine? Then here are 10 play ideas for the popular colorful stacking stones:

Balancing
Okay, admitted: The idea is pretty self-explanatory and often the first thing that comes to mind when you see the colorful stones. The stones can be used on all surfaces for balancing. You can balance from stone to stone or build different heights and towers. Since the stones are super easy to clean, you can also use them outdoors in nature and then simply clean them with water.

Transport from A to B
Currently, we also like to use the Stapelsteine for tidying up together, for example, when too many Lego bricks are on the floor and need to be put away. Then we take the Stapelstein, put all the Lego bricks in it, and bring them back to the box. You can also easily turn this into a game or even a competition and, for example, transport a small ball from one line to the next in the Stapelstein.

Bathtub Boats
Since Stapelsteine weigh only 180g, they float in the bathtub with the opening facing upwards. This is great for letting small bathtub boats float, putting various toys in and out, and also testing how much you need to put in for the Stapelstein boat to sink.

Color Sorting
A popular game for children in their first and second year of life. At this age, colors become interesting, and children learn their first associations. Together with the child, you can sort: Which things in my children's room are red? What do we find in blue? The different colors can now be distributed among the colorful Stapelsteine, creating a wonderful color arrangement. The Rainbow Classic 6-piece set is particularly suitable for this.

Memory Game - What's under which stone?
Anyone familiar with the well-known "shell game" will immediately understand how the next game works. A small object is hidden under one Stapelstein, and then these Stapelsteine can be swapped back and forth with 2 other Stapelsteine. The child then has to guess: Under which stone is the object hidden?

Building Towers
With the Stapelsteine, you can also wonderfully build towers of different heights. Can you build a tower that is as tall as you? And which tower do you dare to climb? And from which tower can you jump down?

Wobble Chair
You can easily build a wobble chair from Stapelsteine with the Balance Board. With just two Stapelsteine and a Balance Board, you can build a small stool. Simply stack the Balance Board into the lower opening of the Stapelstein and place the surface of the regular Stapelstein upside down on the floor. The wobble chair is perfect for maintaining balance. Depending on the child's size, you can use more or fewer stones.

Slide Race

Slide racing is particularly popular with us right now! How does it work? It's simple. Turn the Stapelsteine upside down, put your feet in, and off you go sliding. You can also easily play it as a race against each other - even if it gets harder the bigger your feet are.

Jumping from Stone to Stone
In addition to simple balancing, jumping from stone to stone is also a popular game. In this game, it's important that the Stapelsteine are placed so that they don't slide away, for example, on a carpet. Similar to "The floor is lava," the floor must not be touched. However, the stones can be moved to get to another place, for example.

Jumping Down
From the 1st stone, from the 2nd stone, from the 3rd stone... whoa, jumping from the 4th Stapelstein is quite high! But with a soft surface, I dare to do that too! When jumping down from Stapelsteine, children can test their sense of danger and try things out. How much do I trust myself?
